Purely abstract composition above (with no preconceived ideas), representational interpretation from imagination below (no references allowed). This was my live demonstration from this past weekend during my workshop at @seattleprize . A more experimental workshop than my typical style of workshop that I’ve taught in years past, and I think very well suited to such an advanced/professional group of artists. It was SO gratifying to see these artists take the approach and run with it. Pushing focus, trusting their knowledge, and being willing to play.
